Google Pagerank Update
Pagerank is a backlink analysis algorithm which assigns a numerical importance value to each page in Google’s index, these values range from one to ten, with ten indicating a page of supreme importance.
Contrary to popular understanding, the inbound link median required to advance a “Pagerank level” is not actually twice that which was required to gain your current pagerank, but actually around 5.5 times the link median.
The pagerank value assigned to any given page is not only determined by the number of inbound links which point to that page, but also the pagerank score attributed to of each of the linking pages.

Although the pagerank of any given page can be checked via the Google toolbar browser plugin, the data shown may not actually reflect the current “live” pagerank score of that page. This is because the toolbar relies on periodical “Pagerank Updates” rather than displaying live results.
Pagerank updates have traditionally occurred every two and a half months in the past, however, 2010 was a huge exception to this rule, and there was only one Google Pagerank update throughout the entire year.
Some people have hypothesised that google were purposefully reducing the number of pagerank updates in an effort to get webmasters to concentrate more on valuable content, and less on pagerank. But so far in 2011, Google seems to be sliding back into the established pattern of more regulartwo to three monthly toolbar updates.
